They were the topic of much discussion in the lead-up to the big day – what would the world’s most popular couple choose for their royal wedding cake and flowers?
It might have been just over a week ago, but we still can’t get enough of the royal couple. And at Vindya we couldn’t wait to find out all the details of the Royal Wedding Cake and Flowers.
So when it came to the royal wedding cake and flowers, what did the elegant Duke and Duchess choose?
The royal wedding cake was a break from tradition, but no surprise to most people.
Designed by Claire Ptak, and created by six bakers over five days, the royal wedding cake was a lemon and elderflower recipe with buttercream icing. The magnificent cake was topped with fresh flowers.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose the cake for its delicate, balanced flavours, and its seasonal touch – there is no question that lemon and elderflower is just right for a Spring wedding!
It is safe to say that the royal wedding flowers will be setting trends for some time.
The amazing flowers in the chapel were a sea of white seasonal blooms – roses, peonies and foxgloves – with natural branches of beech, birch and hornbeam.
Florist Philippa Craddock brought elegance and the perfect touch of romance to the wedding, while still giving it a traditional undertone.
The bridal bouquet was simple, yet stunning, and buzzing with sentiment. Harry picked out his bride’s bouquet himself, and we are in love with the sweet, humble bunch.
Included in the arrangement were scented sweet peas, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine and astrantia. Most notable though, were the forget-me-nots that he added to the bouquet, in honour of his mother. Forget-me-nots were Diana’s favourite flower.
We know that the choices made for the royal wedding cake and flowers are going to be the springboard for simple, tasteful and elegant wedding trends.
At Vindya and Co Cakes and Flowers, we are thrilled at the new direction, and look forward to helping brides all over Melbourne personalize these new trends, making them their own.
